A school student named Arpan Karmakar (15) died after jumping from the roof of a building in Shankharibazar area of the capital. Arpan studied in 10th class of Dhaka Collegiate School.
The incident took place on Thursday (April 25) around 3:30 pm at house number 6 of Kailash Ghosh Lane, Shankharibazar. When he was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctor declared him dead at 5:30.
Dipankar Karmakar, the father who brought him to the hospital, said that they live on the 6th floor of the house. Divide between 2 girls and 1 boy. At noon Arpan’s murder was going on with his sisters at home. Then Baba gets angry with Arpana and slaps him. Distraught by this, he goes to his room and closes the door and sleeps. After some time when the father opened the door of the room to call, he tried to block the door in front of the father. Then the father got angry and asked him to leave the house.
He said, because of this little word, Arpan ran to the roof of the 7th floor with pride. There he jumped down.
The relatives said that he was first taken to a local hospital in an injured state. Seeing the deterioration of the condition there, he was brought to Dhaka Medical.
The assistant in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp quoted the doctor. Masud said that the doctor declared him dead immediately after bringing him to the hospital. The body has been kept in the morgue. The incident was reported to the Kotyali Police Station.
