Forming complaint against police officer in Barisal

The complaint alleges that on February 6, 2022, Ferdous married the woman ‘according to Islamic Sharia’ at the bungalow of the 10th Armed Police Battalion. After marriage, both husband and wife participate in various public and private functions. In March of the same year, Ferdous’s first wife came to Banglato with her children, then the plaintiff also went there. He was beaten up when he pressed for marriage registration.

The complaint also states, “On July 22, 2022, the police officer took the woman to the police officers’ mess in Iskaton, Dhaka. Later on July 25, their marriage was registered at a friend’s house in Gulshan. Later they returned to Barisal.

However, the plaintiff said that he did not get the cabin letter even though he asked for it, “On October 8 of the same year, Ferdous left Barisal. When contacted later, he asked to ‘forget’ about the marriage and threatened not to overdo it.”

Bench assistant Kazi Humayun Kabir said that on November 20, 2022, the woman sent a legal notice seeking the status of wife. On December 27, Kotwali filed a complaint at the Model Police Station after not getting a response. Then the police suggested the case to the court. The court dismissed the complaint and ordered a judicial inquiry.

He said that Barisal Metropolitan Magistrate Al Faisal submitted the investigation report to the tribunal in March this year.
