Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has commented that BNP’s tactic will not be successful in protecting terrorists under the cover of political speech.

In a statement sent to the media on Thursday, he said, “BNP failed in the democratic movement and chose the path of terror and violence in the name of the so-called anti-government movement.” Terrorist and cadre forces of BNP and its allies conduct terrorist activities through arson and vandalism aimed at hindering the smooth running of the government and the development of the country. Their main targets are the country’s people and state assets.”

General Secretary of Awami League said, “We have witnessed, in the name of thwarting the 12th National Assembly elections in the previous series, they have burnt innocent people and destroyed state assets through arson.

“And when the country’s law and order forces and His Majesty’s Court take steps to protect people’s safety and peace and order, BNP leaders try to question it.”

Terming BNP as a terrorist organization, he said, “It is their policy decision to harbor terrorists.” BNP created its own terrorists and cadre army as well as violent terrorists like Bangla Bhai from power and dismissed it as ‘Bangla Bhai media’s creation’ to protect him.

“The government led by People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina is determined to take appropriate legal action against terrorist groups to ensure peace and security of the people.”

Obaidul Quader said, “Successful statesman Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, is struggling to establish a culture of justice by breaking the yoke of the culture of injustice, which is sitting like a rock. Anyone who is a terrorist or a criminal should be brought to justice. The tactic of shielding terrorists behind political rhetoric will not succeed.”

In the statement, he condemned and protested the political statement of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claiming it was intentional.

Quader claimed in the statement that although BNP is desperate to come to power by any means, Awami League is doing politics by standing in line with the people.

He said that the BNP, while in power, had run a ‘steam roller of exploitation and tyranny by treating the people as enemies’.

“It established a reign of terror across the country by sponsoring terrorism and extremism. And now they are trying to use the people as a tool to use the people as a tool to create confusion and anarchy through violence against the constitutionally legitimate and democratically elected government.”
