Cyber ​​and Special Crime (South) Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) has arrested five members of an organized cheating gang who leaked question papers using digital devices in the third phase of assistant teacher recruitment examination in Directorate of Primary Education.

Among those arrested are two students of Dhaka University, Jyotirmoy Gain (26) and Sujan Chandra Roy (25) and three candidates – Manish Gain (39), Pankaj Gain (30) and Lovely Mondal (30).

Meanwhile, the mobile phone used to send the exam question papers and solved questions to Asim Ghine, the mastermind of the circle, was recovered from them. Later, various evidences were found on the phone.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid told reporters at the DB office on Minto Road in the capital on Thursday (April 25) afternoon.

He said that the third phase of the written examination for the recruitment of assistant teachers of government primary schools was held on March 29. Three and a half lakh examinees from 21 districts of Dhaka and Chittagong participated in this phase. During the examination, 7 people were detained in Madaripur and one student in Rajbari along with the answers to the questions and devices.

In this incident, a case was filed separately in two districts. The examinee who was detained in Rajbari admitted his responsibility in the court and gave a statement under section 164.

In the statement, the student said how he got the answer and when the answer sheet arrived on his mobile. Most of the examinees arrested in Madaripur were released on bail. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Madaripur district to investigate this incident. On the request of Masood Alam, DB’s Cyber ​​and Special Crime South Division took up the investigation. Jyotirmoy Gain and Sujan Chandra, members of the gang and law students of Dhaka University, were arrested soon after. Both of them are residential students of DU’s Jagannath Hall.

The DB chief said that the arrested DU students told the detective police that they had received questions to solve before the exam. Jyotirmoy Gain’s uncle got the responsibility of solving this question through Asim Gain. Asim solved the problem by promising 12 to 15 thousand rupees per question. In this proposal, Jyotirmoy and Sujansaj 7 sat in room 224 of Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta Bhawan of Dhaka University Jagannath Hall and sent them to solve the question.

Harun aur Rasheed also said that Asim has assigned the task of solving the question to his nephew Jyotirmoy Gain. On the other hand, he started contacting the candidates two to three months before the exam. Especially those candidates who were nearing the end of their working age were targeted. He used to contract for Tk 12 to 14 lakhs to make them pass the exam. Aseem Ghine used to send the question answer sheets to the candidates a few minutes before the start of the exam. 72 to 75 of the solved questions are found.

The Additional Commissioner further said that the evidence we have found so far in our investigation points to Asim Ghin as the mastermind of this gang. His house is in Rajair Upazila of Madaripur. He has leaked the question papers of various exams before. He earned hundreds of crores of rupees in a few days. With this money, he built a luxurious house in his village.

Haroon Or Rashid said, Asim is currently absconding. An operation is underway to arrest him. Arresting him will make it clear how he gets the question. We remanded two people in this incident and interrogated them. They gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court. Those who resolved the question in court also conceded. Those who got the question and took the exam also accepted. Investigation is also going on as to who else is involved in the question leak. No one involved will be exempt.

When asked whether the relevant authorities will be requested to cancel the examination in the case of question leak, the DB chief said that everything found in the investigation of the case will be reported to the higher authorities. Then they will decide whether to cancel the exam or keep it. They will take action according to their laws.

Before this, we have arrested many people involved in various exam question leak incidents including banks and airlines. The bank exam was cancelled.
