Prime Minister’s call to the world to say ‘no’ to war

Bangkok, April 25, 2024 (BSS): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on the world to stand against all forms of aggression and atrocities and say ‘no’ to war. He said because sustainable development is a prerequisite for lasting peace and security.
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We must speak against all forms of aggression and atrocities and say ‘no’ to war. Bangladesh supports UN Secretary General’s ‘New Agenda for Peace’.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNSCAP) at the Escape Hall at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Thailand this morning.
He called on world leaders to end all wars, aggression and atrocities, saying the attack on Gaza was only increasing the number of casualties, especially women and children, but talks could bring peace.
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘War and genocide are going on in Palestine. It must be closed. War cannot bring any solution.’
In this context, Sheikh Hasina referred to the ‘Mountain Peace Agreement’ in Bangladesh in 1996 during her initiative and regime which brought back peace among the people.
“We must resolve regional disputes and tensions through dialogue,” he said, noting, “above all we must show mutual respect for national sovereignty and regional integrity.”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here on April 24 on a six-day official bilateral and multilateral visit to Thailand at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin. He is scheduled to leave Bangkok on the morning of April 29.
