Dhaka: The High Court ordered legal action against Sub-Inspector (SI) of Uttara Paschim Police Station Omar Farooq after he was named in the statement of an accused in the case of kidnapping and extortion in a microbus.
The High Court has given this order to the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
At the same time, he was directed to surrender within two weeks before the lower court.
The High Court bench of Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain gave the order on Wednesday (April 24) rejecting the anticipatory bail application of SI Omar Farooq.
The lawyer was in favor of the application in the court. Jahangir Kabir. Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.

Shafiqul Islam of Jaidebpur Madhyapara, the plaintiff, said that while talking to a certain Ahsan Habib at a food hotel in Piruzali Alimpara, Joydevpur on November 24, some of his (Ahsan Habib’s) associates took him in a white Hayes car, blindfolded him and put on handcuffs. They beat them and demanded a ransom of 5 lakh rupees. At this time, if they beat me, I give them 10,000 taka in my pocket. Later the accused called my wife and demanded ransom. But after talking to his wife, I got to know that they are not DB police. When the accused were informed about this, they threw them blindfolded from the car at Kamarpara in Turag at 12:15 AM.
After informing the police, Ahsan Habib was arrested from his house that day. Later he names the various accused.
Among these, Md. In the deposition of an accused named Shaheen Chowdhury, the issue of SI Omar Farooq’s involvement with the matter came up.
In this situation, SI Omar Farooq applied for anticipatory bail in the High Court.
