Order to acquit the accused in the drug case and take action against the police officer

The court has ordered to take departmental action against the police SI who is the plaintiff in the drug case in Barisal and to acquit the accused.

Judge Salma Akhtar of the Barisal Joint Sessions Court on Wednesday acquitted the accused and gave that order.

This information was confirmed by the bench assistant of the concerned court. Sohail Rana.

The acquitted accused Saidur Rahman Nannu Khan is the son of deceased Taleb Ali Khan of Paschim Narayanpur village of Uzirpur upazila.

Regarding the case, the bench assistant said that on September 30, 2018, the police raided Nannu Khan’s house at 12:30 pm. SI Sheikh Farid filed a case at Wazirpur Model Police Station, making Nannu Khan the sole accused on October 1, alleging that 67 yaba were found in the yard of that house.

The investigating officer, SI Kamal Hossain of the same police station, accused Nannu Khan on December 7 of that year and submitted the charge sheet to the court. 9 people testified in the case.

Bench assistant Sohail Rana said, “Asmi Nannu was acquitted in the verdict and the court ordered departmental action against SI Sheikh Farid for filing the case through abuse of power.”

A copy of the order will be sent to Barisal District Superintendent of Police, DIG and IG, said the bench assistant.
