On Wednesday, the highest temperature in the country was 41.6 degrees Celsius in Mongla. The maximum temperature in Dhaka on this day was 39.2 degrees Celsius.

In this situation, the period of heat wave warning (heat alert) may increase for another three days.

The Meteorological Department said that the heatwave may continue for the next 72 hours (three days) from today Thursday.

At the same time, it has been reported that there may be rain in different parts of the country in the first week of May.

Director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department. Azizur Rahman told the media, ‘The three-day heat alert we issued earlier expired on Wednesday. Another three-day heat alert will be issued from today Thursday. Because, for the time being, it is unlikely that the heat wave will be removed by raining on a large scale.’

He said, ‘We issue a heat alert and inform the government. Government will take action accordingly. Those concerned will do what they have to do.’

Azizur Rahman said, ‘The temperature of the whole country has increased a little today from yesterday. There is no chance that the heat wave will completely disappear in April. We see that it will last till May 2-3. After that there may be some chance of rain in different areas. There is no chance of heavy rainfall till then. Locally isolated rain may occur at some places.’

The director of the Meteorological Department also said, ‘Currently, I do not see any sign of the daytime temperature crossing 42 degrees Celsius. The temperature is unlikely to rise much further till April 30.’
