Children living on the streets are called street children. Are they really street children? The answer is no because no baby is born on the way. Due to circumstances or a cruel irony of fate, many children lose their homes as soon as they lose their parents. And this society has given the title of street children to these homeless children.
What is the actual number of these children living in different parts of the country? Maybe no one knows the correct information. However, according to the study of the ‘Child Sensitive Social Protection in Bangladesh’ project of the Department of Social Services, the number of these children in the country is 34 lakh. Those children have to live in lack of education, shelter, health, nutritious food and insecurity.
Also family instability, physical and mental abuse, migration of families from villages to cities due to climate change are pushing children on their way. As a result, the number of street children is constantly increasing.

It has ASI Ruma Parveen in the lead role. ASI Ruma Parveen is working for children with a private organization called Gram Bangla Development Committee. Assistant Commissioner of Police Md. Nafishur Rahman Nafis is giving full support to increase the speed of his work.
Ruma Parveen, ASI of Kotwali Model Police Station, said, “I don’t want to say street children because it is not a street child.” They are the underprivileged children of the society. I have tried to work for children who are deprived of these benefits for a long time.
About 50 children live in Barisal without parents and homes. All should stand by with humanitarian aid to improve their quality of life. If the wealthy people of the society come forward along with government and private institutions, then the suffering of underprivileged children can be alleviated to some extent.
