There has been no rain in public life in Panchagarh. In this district near the Himalayas, the winter season is very cold. And now in the heat of the summer, the public life is in a state of chaos. Low-income earners are in more trouble.

According to the Meteorological Office, a temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tentulia in Panchagarh at 3 pm on Wednesday. Which is the highest in the district this season. But this morning the minimum temperature of the day was 20.7 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists say that a temperature of 36 to 37.9 degrees Celsius is considered a mild heat wave. And 38 to 39.9 degrees Celsius is moderate heat wave. As such moderate heat wave is going on in Panchagarh now.

There is no relief in the heat of public life. The panting condition is also in animals. No one is going out of the house unless necessary. Many are running to sugarcane juice and sorbet shops. Van, rickshaw and easybike drivers have reduced their earnings due to the decrease in pedestrian traffic.

Abdur Rashid, a day laborer, is working in the tomato field despite the intense heat. This worker from Harivasa area of ​​Sadar Upazila said, ‘Life is dying in the heat. Can’t work continuously for long periods of time. I am working hard. Drinking cold water after a while.’

He also said, ‘You should not come to work in this summer, but you still have to come. Because, now if this tomato is not picked quickly, it will be lost in the field. Farmers will suffer.’

Talked to the van driver Siddique Ali in the district town. He said, ‘Due to the heat, there are fewer passengers. Even if there are two, they don’t get into the van. Ride an easybike. It is difficult to stay on the road with a van in this sun. So I’m going home.’

Russell Shah, officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said that the heat wave is high due to lack of rain in the district. There is no chance of rain in this month. However, in the first week of May, there is a possibility of rain in the northeastern part of the country.
