Minister of State for Information calls for investment in Special Economic Zone of Bangladesh in Mauritius

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat called on Mauritius to invest in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zone.

He made this call during a meeting with the country’s Foreign Minister Manish Gobin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (April 24) local time in Mauritius.

Important discussions on bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Mauritius took place in the meeting.

The Minister of State for Information said that there are many similarities between Bangladesh and Mauritius in terms of ethnography and culture. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina considers the relationship between the two countries very important.

MA Arafat discussed with the Foreign Minister of that country about the employment of more workers and professionals from Bangladesh to Mauritius.

Besides, he sought the cooperation of the Mauritius government so that the Bangladeshi workers working in Mauritius can send remittances to the country quickly.

In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information highlighted the possibility of increasing Bangladeshi investment in the African continent through the investment of Bangladesh in Mauritius, the gateway to the African continent.

After the meeting, Mohammad Ali Arafat invited the Foreign Minister of Mauritius to visit Bangladesh.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat is currently in Mauritius to participate in the first Ministerial Conference on Drug Trafficking and Drug Abuse in the Western Indian Ocean Region.
