Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting calls on Mauritius to invest in Bangladesh

Mauritius, April 24, 2024 (BASS) : Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat has called on Mauritius to invest in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zone.
He made this call during a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius Monish Gobin on Wednesday morning. The meeting was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.
This was stated in a press release received in Dhaka today.
In the meeting, the State Minister held important discussions with the Foreign Minister of Mauritius regarding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Mauritius.
The Minister of State for Information told the Foreign Minister of Mauritius that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina considers the relationship between the two countries very important, noting that there are many similarities between Bangladesh and Mauritius in terms of ethnography and culture.
In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting discussed with the Foreign Minister of that country about the recruitment of more workers and professionals from Bangladesh to Mauritius.
Besides, Mohammad Ali Arafat requested the cooperation of the Mauritius government so that the Bangladeshi workers working in Mauritius can send remittances to the country quickly.
As Mauritius is the gateway to the African continent, the Minister of State for Information highlighted the possibility of increasing Bangladeshi investment in the African continent through the investment of Bangladesh in Mauritius.
After the meeting, the Minister of State invited Mauritius Foreign Minister Monish Gobin to visit Bangladesh.
Mohammad Ali Arafat is currently in Mauritius to participate in the first Ministerial Conference on Drug Trafficking and Drug Abuse in the Western Indian Ocean Region.
