The government has appointed Awami League leader and freedom fighter Mohammad Yunusch as the new chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA).

He was appointed on Wednesday for a three-year term.

A notification has been issued from the contract and foreign recruitment wing of the Ministry of Public Administration appointing a new chairman of CDA.

In the notification signed by Bhaskar Debnath, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry, according to Section-7 of the Chittagong Development Authority Act, 2018, Mohammad Yunush has been appointed as Chairman of the Chittagong Development Authority for a period of three years from the date of his joining on the condition of severing working relationships with other institutions and organizations. This office order was issued in public interest by order of the President.

Member of National Committee of Awami League and General Secretary of Victory Mela Parishad Chittagong Mohammad Yunuch will replace the current chairman M Zahirul Alam Dobhash. Chittagong City Awami League Vice President M Zahirul Alam Dobash’s term has ended today. He was appointed for two terms of five years. Nagar Awami League vice-president M Zahirul Alam Dobhash was appointed as chairman for two years in the first phase in 2019 and for three years in the second phase in 2021.

Earlier, the city Awami League treasurer Abduch Chalam was appointed as the chairman for two years on April 23, 2009. After that he was given responsibility for five more rounds. He served as chairman for a total of 10 years in six terms. Abduch Shalam won the election as an independent candidate in the last 12th National Parliament election.
