Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going on a six-day state visit to the country at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin to strengthen bilateral relations. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight to Bangkok left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the Prime Minister and her entourage at 10 am today, Wednesday (April 24).

In the bilateral meeting with Thailand, 5 documents will be signed between the two countries. In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hashan Mahmud said that several cooperation agreements including letter of intent (letter of agreement) will be signed on the negotiation of free trade agreement between Bangladesh and Thailand during this visit.

Visa exemption for holders of official passports of Bangladesh and Thailand, memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation may be signed. Apart from this, two more MoUs on cooperation in the tourism sector and mutual cooperation on customs may be signed to expand the relationship.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to attend and address the 80th session of the Commission for Escape on April 25 in the multilateral program. On the same day, Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Executive Secretary Armida Salcia Alisjabana will pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister.
