Pakistan’s legendary leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has become the new spin coach of the Bangladesh team. He went to Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium on the first day after coming to Dhaka with new responsibility. Shahriar Nafees, in-charge of BCB’s cricket management department, handed over the practice jersey of the Bangladesh team there. Later in a video message given by BCB, he termed the young cricketers of Bangladesh as very talented. In a video message given by BCB, Mushtaq said, ‘The young cricketers of this country are very talented. They can challenge any team.’ He also said, ‘It is a great honor for me to be a part of Bangladesh cricket. I remember, after winning the 1992 World Cup, I was part of the Pakistan team that came to Bangladesh in 1993-94. It’s always great to come to Bangladesh. Many fans of Pakistani cricketers are here. We really enjoyed playing in Bangladesh. The hospitality here is excellent.’ About his role as spin coach of Bangladesh team, Mushtaq said, ‘The work is quite challenging. It is completely different from the rest of the world from a cricketing point of view. You have to adapt here and be much more self-motivated. You have to understand the cricket here. Coming to Bangladesh and mixing with all the polite people is truly a wonderful experience. But no matter what a player or a coach says, you have to be the best.’
