The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested three members of a gang of thieves who were involved in the theft of 240 sacks of ginger by truck from Chittagong port while going to Feni and sold the whole consignment of ginger. They were arrested on Monday from Dakshin Keraniganj police station of Dhaka district, Srinagar police station of Munshiganj district and Doublemooring police station of Chittagong city.

The arrested are, Md. Latifpur area under Sitakunda police station of Chittagong. Abdul Munab’s son. Faridul Alam (40), son of Mizanur Rahman of Khawaja Dewan Lane under Lalbagh police station of Dhaka city. Jeevan (29) and North Kafrul area under Cantonment police. Son of Arab Ali. Al Imam Pamel (30).

PBI Chittagong District Superintendent of Police Nazmul Hasan said that on April 1, the driver colluded and sold 240 bags of ginger to Feni in a truck transported by the transport company from Chittagong port. Following the complaint of the transport company in this incident, three accused have been identified and arrested with the help of information technology. Among them, 10 sacks of ginger were recovered from a warehouse in Shariatpur area. The truck was also recovered.

The arrested three are members of the inter-district thief gang. A case has been filed against them. The arrested were sent to court on Tuesday. The PBI Superintendent of Police said that the charge sheet will be issued soon in this case.
