On April 19, FDC held the elections for the 2024-26 term of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association. Misha-Dipzol panel won this. The oath ceremony was organized today (April 23) at 4 pm at FDC with the members of the winning committee including this panel.
Before the swearing-in ceremony was over, there was a massive scuffle between members of Shilpi Samiti and journalists-YouTubers. Not only that, chair throwing incidents also occur. Which turns into a fight. Some people were injured.
It has been reported that YouTubers had an argument with Shiva Sanu, a member of Shilpi Samiti. It gets out of control at some point. At this time, when the journalists present at FDC came near them, the altercation started with them. The attack on the journalists took place around 6 pm.
According to some eyewitnesses at the FDC, the attack on the journalists was led by Jai Choudhury, organizing secretary of the newly elected committee of Film Artists Association and Alexander Bo and Shiva Shanu, international affairs secretaries.
About 10 journalists and YouTubers, including Mithun Al Mamun of daily newspaper entertainment report and cameraperson of private television Banglavision, were reportedly injured in the fight.
In this incident, the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for first aid treatment. Mithun Al Mamun, who was injured in the attack, said, ‘We were attacked without any reason. They (Shiva Shanu and Jai Chowdhury) said in vulgar language, “Dhar”, after which the fight started. Our camera was broken in their attack. The phone was also stolen at this time.’
Meanwhile, when we tried to contact Joy Chowdhury several times over the phone to know about the incident, he did not pick up the call. Also, attempts were made to contact Misha Saudagar, the newly elected president of Film Artists Association, but he was not available.
