Patients suffering from treatment stop in private hospitals in Chittagong

In protest against the attack on two doctors, all medical services at the private level have been stopped in Chittagong. The patients have suffered greatly due to the suspension of patient admission and examination in about 600 private hospitals-clinics and diagnostic centers in the district and metropolis. More than 5,000 doctors closed their chambers and did not treat any patients personally throughout the day on Tuesday. The program started from 6 am on the call of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and will continue till Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, hundreds and hundreds of patients have suffered greatly due to the closure of medical services at the private level. Many patients and their relatives were seen standing helplessly in front of various labs and clinics since morning. Patient pressure has also increased in government hospitals. On the night of April 10, there was an attack on the doctor Raktim Das who was on duty at the private ‘Patia General Hospital Limited’ in Patia municipality. Some leaders of the party beat up an Awami League leader who was injured in a road accident for delaying treatment. Then on the morning of April 14, the doctor Riaz Uddin Shibalu was attacked at the private medical center hospital on O R Nizam Road in the city. After the death of a child under treatment, angry people beat up the doctor.
In protest, a press release of BMA Chittagong branch informed that the arrest of the accused including Chayed Chairman who attacked doctor Raktim Das and the main accused of the attack on Riaz Uddin Shiblu at the medical center and the cancellation of the bail of the accused and the arrest of other accused from 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday. Private practice (private chambers, new patient admissions in hospitals, new patient services at diagnostic centers) will remain closed. The private hospital clinic will continue the treatment of patients admitted the previous day. The diagnostic center can deliver previous patient reports, no new patient entries or services. #
