Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand has ordered to inform the land owners living outside the survey area. He said that the work of establishing the ground points under the ongoing BDS is over, the work of making the map will start soon.

On Tuesday (April 24) at Bhoomi Bhavan in Tejgaon, the capital, he gave this instruction to the concerned at the EDLMS project (Establishment of Digital Land Management System project) project of Bangladesh Digital Survey (BDS).

Director General of Land Record and Survey Directorate Anis Mahmud, Additional Secretary (Development) Ziauddin Ahmed, EDLMS Project Director Md. Zahurul Haque along with officials of Ministry of Land, Directorate of Land Records and Survey and EDLMS project were present.

Apart from this, the officials of the project subsidiary from South Korea were also present.

The Land Minister said that during the survey process, the owners of the land are not informed and they are harassed. Unbeknownst to them, the survey activity ended.

Citing various incidents in the past, he said, land owners, while selling land for personal use, discovered that it had been wrongly surveyed and gazetted in someone else’s name. As a result, the rightful owners face years of legal and financial trouble to recover their property rights. The minister directed the BDS survey officers to spread awareness about the survey locally and nationally. So that people living in the area and outside the area can know that the survey is being done in their area. But we also have to keep regular inquiries about our valuable resources and our land.

Incidentally, by 2026, the BDS activities of the first phase of the ongoing survey in six areas under the EDLMS project will be completed. It will be possible to launch the BDS program simultaneously across Bangladesh in the second phase with the required output from the first phase. Bangladesh Digital Survey activities are ongoing in Chittagong, Narayanganj, Rajshahi City Corporation, Manikganj Municipality and Dhamrai and Kushtia Sadar Upazila through EDLMS Project (Establishment of Digital Land Management System Project). In the meeting, the BDS officials told the Land Minister that the work of setting up the ground control point in the said area is at the final stage. Very soon, the work of making the map will be completed with the latest equipment including airplanes and drones.
