Rajshahi: This time frogs were married in Rajshahi by making khaidai in the hope of rain. In Bagha Upazila of the district, frogs are married in the hope of rain.
On Tuesday (April 23) in the afternoon, the wedding was organized by going from house to house in Gochar village of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi.
It is known that half a hundred boys and girls went from house to house collecting rice and twigs and organized this wedding on the initiative of Montu Ali and Rokeya Begum of Gochar village, believing that the marriage of a frog with a frog will end the lack of rain. After cooking and eating and drinking, frogs are married with fanfare in the hope of rain.
Montu Ali said that severe heat wave is going on in the whole country including Rajshahi. People and animals are panting in this unbearable heat. But there is no rain. The upazila’s tubewells have not been getting water properly for some time. Water is not available for cultivation. Mangoes and lychees are falling. For this reason, today they married frogs in the hope of rain.
