Silot: The ninth edition of Women’s Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Bangladesh. The ICC delegation is visiting the venue of the event before the start of this global tournament.

As part of this, today they visited Sylhet International Stadium.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will organize Women’s T20 World Cup in October this year. Its list of venues includes Dhaka’s Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The ICC delegation is visiting two venues ahead of the World Cup.

A delegation of five members appeared at the Sylhet stadium on Tuesday. Yesterday they visited Mirpur Shere Bangladesh Stadium. Then they reached Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 11 am today.

The ICC delegation includes Women’s World Cup Event Operations Manager Gurjit Singh, Pitch Consultant Andy Atkinson, Commercial & Sponsorship Division Laila Stein, Hospitality Division Alana White and Security Specialist David Musker. They also explored the facilities of Sylhet International Stadium, dressing room, press box, media box and five star hotel in Sylhet.

After the visit of the ICC delegation to the stadium, General Secretary of Sylhet Sports Association Mahi Uddin Ahmad Salim said that after the routine inspection, the delegation felt satisfied with the ground in Sylhet. However, if there is any problem with the field, it will be reported in writing.

After 10 years, Bangladesh is again hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The decision was taken at the 2022 ICC Annual General Meeting held in Birmingham, UK. The league stage games of the World Cup are scheduled to be played in Sylhet and the semi-finals and final in Dhaka.

10 teams – Bangladesh, Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan – will play directly in this women’s T20 World Cup. Other teams will come through two qualifiers.
