Chittagong Jubo League leader jailed in money embezzlement case

The court ordered 10 months rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10 lakh to Altaf Hossain, convenor of Nangalmora Union Jubo League of Hathajari, in the money embezzlement case in Chittagong. Chittagong’s 6th Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Afroza Khatun’s court gave this verdict on Tuesday. Altaf Hossain is the son of Shamsul Alam of Nangalmora.

Advocate Arnab Talukder, the plaintiff’s lawyer, said that the court ordered Altaf Hossain to be sentenced to 10 months without labor and a fine of Tk 10 lakh in the money embezzlement case. Altaf Hossain was absent during the verdict. The court issued an arrest warrant based on the conviction warrant against him.

According to the court sources, Altaf Hossain is known to the plaintiff Mohammad Parvez. As such, Altaf Hossain borrowed 10 lakh taka from Parvez. Against 10 lakhs. On September 24, 2019, Parvez was given a check of Tk 10 lakh from Islami Bank Andarkilla branch. On presentation of the check to the concerned bank on September 26 of the same year, the check was returned to the plaintiff with a dishonor slip for insufficient funds. Misappropriating the money by wasting unnecessary time by talking about returning the money. On November 7, 2019, the plaintiff filed a case in court (CR case number 2602/2019 (Kotwali) and session number 2114/2020). In addition to this case. Several cases against Altaf Hossain on charges of fraud and embezzlement are pending in different courts.
