A fire broke out in a truck full of jute in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj. Firefighters spent an hour trying to bring the fire under control. Initially, it was reported that there was a loss of 9 lakh rupees in the fire.

The fire took place on the regional road on the east side of Sahebganj new market in Nalka Union of the upazila on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

The victims are Abhiram Saha son of Rajab Govinda of Tinnandina village of the same upazila and Tariqul Islam son of Kurman Bhuiyan of Nalchia village.

The affected jute trader Abhiram Saha said that some laborers have been lifting jute in the truck since this morning in order to sell 200 maunds of jute in Khulna. After that, when the truck full of jute left the warehouse and went on the regional road, the electricity hanging on the truck was torn. It immediately caught fire in the jute. Jute worth about nine lakh rupees has been burnt to ashes in this fire. However, cash of Tk 15 lakh inside the truck was recovered.

Raiganj Fire Service team leader Rafiqul Islam told Jago News that after receiving a 999 call, the fire was brought under control after an hour of effort. He mentioned that the fire broke out when the moving truck broke an electric wire.
