A case has been filed against BRTC Sylhet Bus Depot Manager Sohail Rana and Traffic Inspector Rezaur Rahman in the Metropolitan Magistrate II Court for demanding Tk 20 lakh bribe. The plaintiff in the case is Habibur Rahman Khokon, director of Majumdari counter of BRTC buses plying on Sylhet-Bholaganj-Sada Pathar road. The case was filed on April 16. After the case, the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate. The case documents were sent to the PBI office from the court on Monday.

It is said in Ezhar that BRTC bus service was launched on Sylhet-Bholaganj-Sada Pathar road on November 9, 2019. He was given the responsibility of managing the Majumdari counter for bus tickets. After that, he suffered due to various reasons. In 2020, CNG-powered autorickshaw drivers attacked the counter. The case is going on in the court. On March 29, BRTC Sylhet depot manager Sohel Rana came to the counter with bus traffic inspector Rezaur Rahman. They demanded Tk. 20 lakhs to manage ticket sales at the counter. Khokon mentioned in the statement that at one stage of the dispute, the depot manager and the traffic inspector abused and threatened to kill him.
