Babul Akhtar killed him with Mitu’s money: Ma

Mitu’s mother Shaheda Musharraf testified in court that former SP Babul Akhtar had his wife Mitu killed by a hired killer.

He also claimed in evidence that Babul Akhtar bought a weapon for 70 thousand taka from an accused to be used in Mitu’s murder.

Shaheda Musharraf said at one stage of her testimony in the court, “15 days ago, Babul Akhtar’s mother called her and said that Babul Akhtar killed Mitu. May I forgive him.”

He said this in the testimony given in the court of Jasim Uddin, the third additional metropolitan session judge of Chittagong on Tuesday.

While testifying, Shaheda Musharraf broke down in tears several times while narrating the incident of her daughter Mitu’s death.

Shaheda said, Babul-Mitu’s marital relationship was ‘not good’ from the beginning. After learning about Babul’s ‘alienation’ incident, Mitu told her mother and sister. Babul then tortured Mitu physically and mentally. Fed up with that, Mitu tried to commit suicide three or four times. While staying abroad, Babul Akhtar planned to kill Mitu.

After the testimony, the cross-examination continued until 5:30 pm with a break at noon. The day’s proceedings ended with the interrogation of Shaheda Musharraf unfinished. Defense lawyers will cross-examine him again on Wednesday.

On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mitu was publicly shot and hacked to death while going to drop her son in the school bus at GEC intersection in Chittagong city.

Mitu’s husband SP Babul, dismissed from police service, was transferred from Chittagong a few days before the incident. The murder took place in Chittagong soon after he left to join his workplace in Dhaka.

In the beginning, the finger was pointed at the militants, but later the drama came to the story.

In January 2020, the PBI got the charge of investigating the case on the orders of the court, after the DB police could not find any clues despite three and a half years of investigation.

At one point, Babul turned from the plaintiff to the defendant in the case. He also lost his job.

In May 2021, PBI said that wife Mitu was killed in Babul Akhtar’s ‘plan’. And for that reason, he ‘gave three lakh taka through people’ to the killers.

After giving the final report in Babul’s case, Mitu’s father filed another case. However, Babul’s case was revived after that case did not reach the court.

On September 13, 2022, PBI submitted the charge sheet in the court in that case. Seven people including Babul were accused. Then on October 10 of that year, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Chittagong accepted the complaint.

‘The relationship was not good from the beginning.’

Mitu’s mother Shaheda Mosharraf said, “My eldest daughter is Mahmuda Khanum Mitu. Married to Babul Akhtar on February 26, 2002. At the time of marriage, Babul was working in Ideal School. After marriage their relationship was not good from the beginning. was roughly

“Then he joined the police. Later transferred to Cox’s Bazar as Additional SP. There he fell in love with a foreign woman.”

Shaheda Mosharraf said, “One day, Babul Akhtar took Mitu to a hotel in Cox’s Bazar. The foreign woman also stayed in the next room in the same hotel. In that woman’s room, Babul Akhtar was seen in an offensive state by Mitu.

“Mitu saw and asked, ‘What are you doing here?’ Babul says, works on laptop to go abroad. Mitu feels very bad seeing both of them in this condition. Mitu was in that room for a while. As the children were alone in Mitu’s room, they later moved out. As soon as the children are put to sleep, he falls asleep.”

Shaheda Musharraf claimed that when Mitu woke up at around 3 am, not finding Babul in the room, Mitu went to the foreign woman’s room and said, “Go and see that woman and Babul Akhtar are in an offensive state. Mitu came back to her room crying and called me. Then I said, ‘Get away from Babul Akhtar’.

“Mitu then says, ‘My Mahir and Tapur (son and daughter) will think bad of me. I trust in Allah’.”

Shaheda Mosharraf said, “Later, Babul Akhtar was posted in Chittagong Metropolitan. Babul and Mitu used to live in separate rooms at home then. Babul Akhtar used to talk to many girls on the phone late at night. Mitu used to listen to the pulse.”

Three-four times ‘suicide attempt’ Mitu

Shaheda Mosharraf testified that Babul left a mobile phone at his home in Chittagong when he went on a mission in 2014, “Mitu received 29 SMS messages from that foreign woman given to Babul Akhtar on that mobile phone. At home, Mitu finds two books written in English that the woman gave to Babul Akhtar.

“These SMS were written on two large pages and two small pages from Mitu Mobile. At the end of December 2015, Mitu and her children went to my younger daughter Shayla Musharraf’s house. At that time Mitu sent us SMS and books written on paper. Babul started physically and mentally torturing Mitu after telling us about his relationship with that foreign national woman.”

Shaheda Musharraf said, “After that, Mitu tried to commit suicide three or four times. Mitu once tried to run away from her house in Chittagong and go to our house in Dhaka. On the night of June 4, 2016, Mitu called me…”

Saying this, Shaheda Musharraf burst into tears.

After that, trying to control himself, he said, “Mitu called me and told me that there was a message from Amma Mahir’s school. I have to take Mahir to school early in the morning.

“On the morning of June 5, a tenant woman called me from near Mitu’s house and said, ‘Mitu Bhabi has met with an accident due to a cylinder blast’.”

Saying this, Shaheda started crying. Later, when the judge asked him to sit on a chair, he began to speak.

Shaheda said, “Then I told the woman, ‘Mom, you should admit Mitu to the hospital. As much money as it takes, I am coming with money’.

“After some time Mahir called and said, ‘Nani Ammu has been beaten and shot by terrorists’. I said to Mahir, ‘What does your mother talk about?’ Mahir says, ‘No, mom is just looking’. Then I said to Mahir, have you called your father?’ Mahir says, ‘Yes Nani, Dad doesn’t talk’. I told Mahir over the phone, ‘Cover your mom with a sheet’.”

Shaheda Musharraf said, “After Mitu died, Mahir called Babul Akhtar three times. But Babul received it but did not say anything. And I also called Babul once. did not receive

“Then I flew to Chittagong with my two younger sons-in-law Shahidul and Shaukat, Ja Lovely Begum and younger daughter Shayla Musharraf. Come and go to the place where Mitu was killed. Then I went to Mitu’s house. I heard that Mitu has been taken to the hospital.”

Then Shaheda said, “After going home, Mahir hugged me and cried, ‘Nani my mother is gone…’

Saying this, Shaheda Musharraf cried out in the court.

Later, Shaheda said, “Then Mitu was brought to the police line from the hospital. The funeral will be held. My two brothers-in-law Shahidul and Shaukat took Mitu to Dhaka in an ambulance after the janaza in the police line. We go to Dhaka by plane. Then Mitu’s funeral was held in Meradia. Burial takes place there.”

‘Mitu was killed by Mitu’s business money’

Shaheda Musharraf said in the testimony given to the court, “Babul Akhtar came to the country three to four times during his stay abroad. But then he never came home. Since then plans to kill Mitu and deals money. After coming from the mission, he went to China with the team. Tried to kill Mitu while sitting in China. by planning

“Mitu had a business. He killed Mitu with three lakhs of that business. Babul Akhtar came to our house after Mitu died. He was in our house for six months. Sitting there, he communicates with the killers.”

After that, on June 24, 2026, Babul Akhtar was taken from their home to DB in Dhaka, Shaheda Mosharraf said, “Then Babul Akhtar left the job from there. Then I asked, ‘Why did you quit your job?’ Then he says, ‘I am out of a job because of Mithu’s murder’. I tell him, ‘This is no trial! Is Mitu’s murder trial without your job?’”

Shaheda said, “Before this, Babul Akhtar gave Musa 70,000 taka to buy weapons from Mucha to kill Mitu. Mucha’s wife said this. Mucha’s wife asked Mucha, ‘Did you kill Mitu?’ Then Mucha said, ‘If I don’t kill Mitu, Babul Akhtar will crossfire me’.

“Babul Akhter tells us, ‘The accused of Mitu’s murder have been arrested. I asked to crossfire’. Then accused Wasim and Anwar were caught. A few days later Bhola was caught. He testified in court that Mucha had killed Mitu on the orders of Babul Akhtar.”

Shaheda Mosharraf said, “One and a half months after Mitu’s death, we came to Chittagong to teach Milad at the house where she was staying.” After some time, accused Kalu and Shahjahan were arrested. After we came to Chittagong, it seems that Babul Akhtar had killed Mitu in a pre-planned manner. Babul Akhtar hurriedly made the case himself with false information.

“Later the IO said, we will give the final report in Babul Akhtar’s case. You make the case, or we make the case? Mitu’s father then says, ‘My daughter, I will file the case’. On May 12, 2021, my husband Babul Akhtar filed a case in the name of eight people.”

At the end of the testimony, Shaheda said while crying to the court, “Where are you keeping Mitu’s children? Mahir is detained. He came to my house once. When I take a bath, I see the marks on the back. Mahir said, ‘There was a knock on the door’. Can’t back the door like that.

“Kill my master. I seek the alms of the sages. I will feed them even if they beg. However, I will not let her live with her stepmother.”

Finally, Shaheda told the court, “Babul Akhter’s mother called me 15 days ago and said, ‘Mitu was killed by my son. Forgive Babul.’

“I then said angrily, ‘Why is Babul dead? What would you say if Babul died? I will not forgive him even in life’. Mitu is my eldest child. I heard the first mother’s call in Mitu’s mouth. judge.”

Cross-examination is incomplete

During the cross-examination on behalf of accused Bhola, his lawyer Nityalal Khastagir asked, “When was Bhola caught? Did you hear that Bhola was caught before your husband filed the case?”

In response, Shaheda said, “I have been caught before. But I can’t say when. Heard from Babul Akhtar. I saw it on TV. But when, they don’t care.”

Lawyer Nityalal Khastagir asked that Mucha had killed Mitu on the orders of Babul Akhtar. Ever heard of it?

In response, Shaheda said, “Heard it in a TV interview.”

Later, Babul’s lawyer Kofil Uddin questioned in the cross-examination, “After marriage, their relationship was not good, where did they give any complaint in 22 years?”

In response, Shaheda Musharraf said, “No. But I have informed Babul’s parents.”

When Mitu came to Chittagong after the murder, many newspapers interviewed them, lawyer Kofil said, “Then you said there was no disturbance in Babul’s house in 14 years.

In response, Shaheda Musharraf said, “Not true.”

The investigating officer of the case on November 20, 2016. When Kamruzzaman went to their house in Dhaka and interrogated everyone, did he say anything about Babul, Shaheda said, “Not true. Just questioned my younger daughter. I don’t remember whether I said anything about Babul or not. Everyone was at home then.
