Rajshahi: The town of Rajshahi is burning due to intense heat wave. By midday, the temperature has gone above 41 degrees Celsius.
Istiska prayers have been offered in Puthia and Bagha upazilas to protect against such situation and pray for rain.
The prayer was offered at Puthia PN Model High School grounds on Tuesday (April 23) at noon.
Alhaj Maulana Mohammad Anwarul Islam was the imam in this prayer organized by Ulama Parishad of Puthia Upazila. There, after two rakat prayers, a special prayer was made for rain in the entire country including Rajshahi. Apart from this, prayers are sought for the welfare of the country and the nation to protect it from natural calamities.
Mild to moderate heat wave is blowing in Rajshahi since last April 1. Finally, the intense heat wave begins. Meanwhile, the highest temperature of Rajshahi was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday (April 20) at 3 pm. The next day, Sunday (April 21), the same temperature was recorded. Then 40 degree Celsius was recorded on April 22. Today, Tuesday (April 23), the highest temperature recorded in Rajshahi was 40.5 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Office, a mild heat wave occurs when the maximum temperature is 36 to 37.9 degrees Celsius, a moderate heat wave when it is 38 to 39.9 degrees Celsius, a severe heat wave when it is 40 to 41.9 degrees Celsius and a very severe heat wave when it is 42 degrees Celsius or more. It is called a heat wave.
