This is how Ashikuzzaman Joy reacted after being beaten up by his party workers in room 440 of Chabir AF Rahman Hall at around 11 pm on Monday (April 22). He is a student of 2018-19 session of statistics department of CHBI.
6 Chhatra League activists have been accused of beating the Chhatra League activist named Ashikuzzaman Joy for an hour, alleging that the relationship with the former Joint General Secretary of Chittagong University (CHB) Chhatra League Mohammad Ilyas is not good.
The accused are – students of public administration department. Abdullah Al Zobair, student of communication and journalism department, Mamun Mia, student of political science department. 15 to 20 people, including Faisal Mia (Atish Faisal), Tanay Kanti Sarkar, a student from the Department of Islamic History and Culture, Shakeel Ahmed from the Department of Development Studies and Russel Raj from the Department of Botany. They are students of 2018-19 academic year.
The victim Ashikuzzaman Joy told Banglanews that 15-20 people including the accused beat me because of my bad relationship with Elias brother. They came to my room number 440 and tried to kill me. I was beaten with sticks, rods, hockey sticks and chairs. At one point I ran away from the roof of the hall.
Ashiq further said, later I was beaten again at the gate of the hall when I was being taken to the medical facility The CCTV footage of the hall will prove it. I went to medical with the help of 2 seniors in the hall and took treatment. I don’t know when I will recover. I informed the proctor immediately about this, sir assured me of a fair trial. I will give a written complaint.
Meanwhile, when attempts were made to contact the accused, most of them did not respond.
Accused Tanay Kanti Sarkar told BanglaNews that Ashiq is intoxicated. When he went to talk to him about it, the others got angry that he was arguing with everyone and gave him a light beating. I tried to save him as much as possible.
To know about this, the leader of a group of Vijay Group, Mohammad Ilyas, tried to contact him several times on the phone, but he did not respond.
