A youth was arrested with 6.5 kg of heroin in a raid at Matikata Canalpara village of Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. His name is Ejazul Haque Jhabu (28). His home is in Dyad Manikchak village of Godagari, adjacent to the Indian border. Father’s name is late Abdul Latif.
On Monday (April 22), the raid was carried out by the Rajshahi District Police Intelligence Branch (DB) team around 3 pm. DB police recovered 13 packets of heroin from Ejazul’s bag. Their weight is six and a half kg. The price is around six and a half crore rupees. This is the largest haul of heroin seized by law enforcement in recent memory.
Rajshahi Superintendent of Police (SP) Saifur Rahman briefed reporters at his office on Tuesday (April 23) after this operation. He said that another drug dealer named Munirul Islam (40) escaped during the operation. His house is also in Dyad Manikchak village.
In this incident, a case has been filed against two people under Narcotics Control Act at Godagari police station. There is a case against the arrested Ejazur in Boalia police station of Rajshahi metropolis. The case took place on March 26. He was sent to jail by the court.
