Former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed as the new spin bowling coach of Bangladesh national team. This former leg spinner was a member of Pakistan’s ODI World Cup winning team in 1992. Mushtaq arrived in Bangladesh on Monday afternoon after receiving his new duties. Today, Tuesday came to the home of cricket in the famous Mirpur Shere Bangla Stadium. Video analyst Mohsin Sheikh also came to BCB with him.

Assistant Manager of Cricket Operations Shahriar Nafis handed over the Bangladesh team’s practice kit to Mushtaq on Tuesday. Several cricketers including Mushfiqur Rahim, captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto paid a courtesy call to the spin coach of Bangladesh. This time, Mushtaq was also seen talking with the head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

Mushtaq will start his duties as the coach of Bangladesh with the upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe. This preparatory camp will be held in Chittagong from 26 to 28 April. The Bangladesh team will play the first three matches of the 5 T20 series against Zimbabwe there. After that, the last two matches will be held in Dhaka. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe cricket team will arrive in Bangladesh on April 28. They will go to Chittagong on the same day.

The coaching staff has started returning to Dhaka ahead of the Zimbabwe series. National team coach Hathurusinghe returned to Australia for personal reasons during the second and final Test against Sri Lanka. Hathurusingh returned to Bangladesh late on Sunday night.

Not only Hathurusinghe, the rest of the coaching staff team has also left. Batting coach David Hemp, pace bowling coach Andre Adams are also back. Newly appointed trainer Nathan Kiely is the first to come to Bangladesh and start working. Mohsin, a performance analyst appointed for two years, has also joined.
