The 54th anniversary and national day of Bangladesh’s independence and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh-UAE diplomatic relations were celebrated. The event was organized at the five-star hotel Raffles in Dubai.
Rashid Abdullah Al Qasir, Deputy Director of the Dubai Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Emirates, was present as the guest of honor at the event held on Wednesday (April 17) in Dubai, the commercial capital of the Emirates.
About 300 guests including diplomats, business leaders, high-ranking officials and dignitaries of about 20 countries participated in the event.
After the national anthems of both countries were played, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and Northern Emirates BM Jamal Hussain congratulated all the expatriates and thanked the citizens of the UAE for their continued support for the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of the people of the two brotherly countries of the Emirates.
The Consul General remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his family members and the martyrs of the Great Liberation War with deep respect. He urged everyone to visit Bangladesh to see the incredible development that has taken place in recent years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He also called for deepening and diversifying the partnership between the two countries.
A special documentary on 50 years of Bangladesh-UAE diplomatic relations was screened on the occasion. The content of the meeting of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with the founder of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan is presented in this video documentary.
A cake was then cut to mark the Golden Jubilee. At the end of the dinner, the foreign guests were given gift hampers of Bangladeshi brands as National Day greetings.
