Barisal, 10 Baishakh (April 23):: An exchange meeting on “Smart Bangladesh and Development Journalism” was held today with the journalists and participants of the district at the Barisal Divisional Government Public Library auditorium under the initiative of the Regional Information Office (PID).

The speakers in the meeting emphasized on the need of everyone’s concerted efforts to build Smart Bangladesh, and said that to make Smart Bangladesh successful, people with moral character and honesty and accountability must be built first. They called for the wide spread of positive and development journalism instead of negative journalism. He drew the government’s attention to the prevention of harassment of journalists in the Digital Security Act case while providing news in the public interest.

PID Information Officer Rafid Mahbub Ahmad presented various important video clips and slides on ‘Smart Bangladesh and Development Journalism’ at the event.

PID Deputy Chief Information Officer (DPIO) Mr. Javed Iqbal presided over as the chief guest was Professor Dr. Govt. Brajmohan College Principal. Md. Aminul Haque. Barisal District Information Office Director Md. Riyadul Islam, Shahid Abdur Rab Serniabat Barisal Press Club President Kazi Al Mamun, Metropolitan Press Club President Kazi Abul Kalam Azad and Bilabbi Bangladesh Patrika Editor Vir Muktijoddha Nurul Alam Farid were present as special guests.

Journalists of print and electronic media, stakeholders and officials of various government departments participated in the meeting.
