Bandarban: The court ordered seven more people to be sent to jail in the case of robbery at Sonali Bank in Ruma Upazila, attack on mosque, looting of weapons and money from police and Ansar.

Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge ASM Emran ordered them to be sent to jail on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

Ruma Upazila Chhatra League president Bhan Nun Noam (33) is among them.

The rest are Lal Nun Noam (68), a resident of Munlai Para in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban, Lal David Bum (42), Chamlian Bum (56), Lal Pek Lian (32), Lal Min Bum (50) and Bhan a resident of Laimi Para in Bandarban Sadar Upazila. Biak Bom (23).

According to the police, the seven were arrested as suspected members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in a joint operation at Ruma headquarters on Monday afternoon. Later they were brought from Ruma Sadar under police guard and taken to Bandarban court.

Bandarban Court Sub-Inspector (SI) Priyel Palit confirmed the truth of the matter and said that seven accused were produced in the court. The court ordered to send them to jail.

On April 2, five cases were registered in connection with the robbery of Sonali Bank in Bandarban’s Ruma, the kidnapping of the manager, the attack on the mosque, and the looting of police weapons.

On April 3, a robbery took place at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban. Four cases were filed.

A total of 78 people have been arrested in nine cases so far. They have been sent to jail on the orders of the court.
