The President called on the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar to take more skilled and semi-skilled workers from Bangladesh. Sahabuddin

The President made this call during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Bangabhaban on Tuesday (April 23).

The President welcomed the Emir of Qatar and his entourage. Sahabuddin said that Qatar is an important development partner of Bangladesh.

He said that Amir’s visit is an important chapter in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Highlighting various opportunities including the establishment of 100 Special Economic Zones for foreign investment, the President called on Qatari investors to invest in various sectors of Bangladesh including energy, machinery, IT, food processing and take advantage of these opportunities.

In the bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the President expressed satisfaction that several agreements and memorandums of understanding including energy, security and IT were signed between Qatar and Bangladesh and at the same time hoped that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened in the future.

The President thanked the Qatar government for supplying LNG to Bangladesh. Sahabuddin also expressed hope that Qatar’s cooperation in various sectors including energy will increase in the future.

Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen and secretaries of the President were present on the occasion.
