The President has requested Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to take more skilled and semi-skilled workers from Bangladesh. Sahabuddin The President made this call during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who was visiting Dhaka today (April 23) at Bangabhaban.

Welcoming the Emir of Qatar and his entourage, the President said that Qatar is an important development partner of Bangladesh. Amir’s visit is an important chapter in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Highlighting various opportunities including the establishment of 100 Special Economic Zones for foreign investment, the President called on Qatari investors to invest in various sectors of Bangladesh including energy, machinery, IT, food processing and take advantage of these opportunities.

The President expressed satisfaction that several agreements and memorandums of understanding including energy, security and IT were signed between Qatar and Bangladesh in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At the same time, he hopes that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened in the future.

The President thanked the government of Qatar for supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Bangladesh. Sahabuddin also expressed hope that Qatar’s cooperation in various sectors including energy will increase in the future.
