In the capital, a man died when he got off a bus and fell on the road in the scorching sun.

SI Shah Alam of Wari Police Station said that the incident took place near Gulistan Toll Plaza at around 11 o’clock on Tuesday.

He told bdnews24.com, “It is believed that 56-year-old Alamgir Sikder suffered from heatstroke. When he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctor declared him dead.”

Alamgir Sikdar is a resident of Jatrabari area of ​​Naya Nagar, South Kajla. He used to work in a printing press in Dhaka. He has three sons and one daughter.

Speaking to eyewitnesses and relatives, SI Alam said that he suddenly collapsed while walking down from the bus at Gulistan Toll Plaza. Then the people around rescued him unconscious and took him to the hospital.

“His identity can be traced through his mobile phone. He used to work as a binder in Alamgir Printing Press. He left home for work.”

In view of the written request of the family, SI Alam said that Alamgir’s body was handed over to the relatives without post-mortem.

From mid-April, the heat wave has made people’s life miserable. A large area of ​​the country has been experiencing mild to severe heat wave for several days, which may continue for several more days.

Two deaths were reported on Saturday amid suffocating conditions in the scorching heat. On Sunday, a housewife died in Meherpur, a rickshaw driver in Sylhet and a businessman in Narsingdi. On Monday, a rickshaw driver passed away unconscious on Dhaka’s road. Doctors believe that they died of heat stroke.

Public health experts advise not to go out unless necessary to avoid health risks in the intense heat. Apart from avoiding the sun even when going outside, they advise to cover the head with umbrella, hat/cap or cloth as much as possible, wear light colored clothes and if possible wear cotton clothes and drink plenty of clean water.
