Dhaka, April 23, 2024 (BSS) : Met Office has said that severe, mild to moderate heatwaves are likely to continue over various districts of the country today.
According to the weather forecast, intense heat is blowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts. Mild to moderate heat spread over the remainder of Dhaka, Rangpur and Barisal divisions and Rajshahi and Khulna divisions including Mymensingh, Moulvibazar and Rangamati districts and may continue.
Day temperatures may increase slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.
The highest temperature in the country yesterday was 40.6 degrees Celsius in Jessore and Chuadanga and the lowest was recorded in Tentulia and Dimla at 21.4 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast also said that there may be rain with gusty winds or rain with thunder in one or two places of Sylhet division temporarily. Also scattered hail may occur at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.
The forecast also said that additional parts of low pressure are located in West Bengal and nearby areas.
Wind is blowing at 10 to 15 km per hour from west or north-west direction in Dhaka today.
The relative humidity of the air in Dhaka was 92 percent in the morning.
