American expatriate Bangladeshi boxer Zeenat. He recently won gold at the International Boxing Competition in Durban, South Africa. Bangladesh Boxing Federation General Secretary Mazharul Islam Tuhin confirmed the matter.

Regarding Zeenat’s gold medal, the general secretary of the federation, Tuhin said, ‘Zinat became the first in the 50 kg weight class. He played as a Bangladeshi boxer and cooperated with the Bangladesh Boxing Federation for registration.’

As a promising boxer in the international arena, he represented Bangladesh in the Hangzhou Asian Games in China. However, he did not live up to expectations in those games. Salim went closer to the medal than that. Hence Selim’s name has been sent by the Boxing Federation for a wild card to the Paris Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee has not yet decided on Bangladesh’s wild card. So the Bangladesh Boxing Federation will participate in another qualifying event before the Olympics. The general secretary of the federation said, ‘Salim, Talha, Zeenat will play in an Olympic qualifying tournament in Thailand in May. If there is a medal or a good position there is a possibility of playing directly in the Olympics. We will give it our last try.’

Boxer Salim, who finished fifth in the Asian Games, was on a Congo mission for the Bangladesh Army. He is now training in the country with the prospect of playing in the Olympics.
