The World Bank report presents survey data on the use of information technology in business across 14 countries in 4 regions of the world. The report includes a documentary on computer usage; Where Bangladesh is ranked after Vietnam, Chile, Poland, South Korea, Brazil, Georgia, India, Kenya, Cambodia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso. Senegal is behind Bangladesh.

Bangladesh also lags behind in documentaries about internet usage. But behind this country are Ghana, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and Senegal. Less than 10 percent of businesses in Bangladesh use cloud computing for business. 45 percent of people above 15 years of age in Bangladesh have done digital transactions. In South Asia, the average rate in this case is 33 percent.

There is no information in the World Bank report on how much the production of products in the information technology sector is contributing to the economy of Bangladesh. However, the information technology services sector is said to be contributing $4.52 billion to the country’s economy, though less than the South Asian average. India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are ahead of Bangladesh in IT services exports. 22,000 people have been employed in the production of information technology products and 168,000 people have been employed in providing services. It is also lower than the South Asian average.
