Bangladesh and Qatar on Tuesday signed 10 cooperation documents, including five agreements and five memoranda of understanding, to help strengthen ties and take relations to new heights in multilateral fields.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani witnessed the signing of these documents.

The five subjects of the agreement signed are – cooperation agreement in legal field between Bangladesh and Qatar; Agreements relating to the development and protection of mutual investments; Agreement between Qatar and Bangladesh for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion in respect of Income; Agreement on Sea Route Transport and Formation of Joint Business Council (JBC) between Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI).

The five MoUs are the MoU between Bangladesh and Qatar on cooperation in sports and youth; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Labor of Qatar and Bangladesh on Cooperation in Manpower Employment (Labour); Memorandum of Understanding between Bangladesh and Qatar on Cooperation in Diplomatic Training; MoU between Bangladesh and Qatar for cooperation in education, higher education and scientific research and MoU between Qatar Ports Management Company ‘Mawani Qatar’ and Chittagong Port Authority.

In the event, a road and a park in the capital Dhaka were named after the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The park built in Kalshi area of ​​Mirpur under Dhaka North City Corporation and the road from Mirpur ECB Square to Kalshi Flyover are named after the Emir of Qatar.

Currently the road and the park are known as Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani Avenue and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani Park respectively.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in her office on Tuesday morning with a warm welcome.

They had a private meeting at the Prime Minister’s office followed by a bilateral meeting.

After signing the visitation book there, the Amir will leave for Banga Bhavan this afternoon and will be received by the President.

A high-level delegation headed by the Emir of Qatar is visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
