Shield: Lamiya Khatun (22), a housewife, was accused of murdering her husband Hridoy Howladar (25) in Nalchiti, Jhalkathi. In this incident, the accused husband has been detained by the police for questioning.
The incident took place in Subidpur area of Subidpur Union of Upazila on Tuesday (23 April) morning.
Accused Hriday Howlader is the son of Ali Akbar Howlader of that area. He works as a day laborer.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Murad Ali of Nalchiti police station confirmed the matter.
Lamia’s Khalu Kalam Khan said that on Monday around 2 o’clock in the morning, Hriday called Lamia’s father and told him to take her sick daughter in the morning. Later that night they went to that house and found Lamia dead. We think he was beaten to death. Later in the morning, when the police were informed, the police came and recovered the body.
Bulu Begum, the mother-in-law of the deceased Lamia, said that around 1 o’clock last night, my son’s wife fell ill and started burning in her body. He died later that night.
Murad Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, said that the body was recovered and sent to Jhalkathi Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy. The victim’s husband has been detained for questioning. We have not received any complaints regarding this yet. If complaints are received, legal action will be taken after investigation.
