After the meeting, Bangladesh and Qatar are expected to sign 5 agreements and 5 memorandums of understanding on 10 areas of cooperation.

On Tuesday (April 23) morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to her office with a warm welcome.

They will have a private meeting at the Prime Minister’s office, followed by a bilateral meeting.

The leaders of the two countries will witness the signing of cooperation documents and attend a joint press conference.

After the meeting, Bangladesh and Qatar are expected to sign 5 agreements and 5 memorandums of understanding on 10 areas of cooperation.

After signing the visit book there, the Amir will leave for Banga Bhavan this afternoon and will be received by the President.

The agreements that are likely to be concluded between Bangladesh and Qatar are: – Double taxation avoidance and tax evasion; legal matters; cooperation in the promotion and protection of mutual investment; Transportation by sea; Prisoner exchange and establishment of joint trade councils.

MoUs to be signed on – cooperation in manpower sector; port management; Higher education and scientific research; Cooperation in the field of youth and sports and cooperation in diplomatic training.

A high-level delegation headed by the Emir of Qatar is visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
