Last week, BCB appointed former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as the Tigers’ spin bowling coach. Mushtaq arrived in Bangladesh on Monday (April 22) after taking charge. He will start his journey as a coach with Bangladesh with the Zimbabwe series. BCB has a contract with Mushtaq till T20 World Cup. If the performance is good, the contract period can be extended.
The 53-year-old Mushtaq has experience working as a spin coach for his country Pakistan as well as England and West Indies.
Taking the new responsibility, the former spinner said, ‘It is a great honor for me to be the spin bowling coach of Bangladesh. I am giving full attention to my duties. I want to spread the experience I have gained among the cricketers. I believe Bangladesh is one of the most feared teams in the world.’
Mushtaq has 161 wickets after playing 144 ODIs in international cricket. Besides, this legspinner took 185 wickets after playing 52 Tests. He played 309 matches in first class cricket and took 1 thousand 407 wickets.
