Private closed due to doctors’ movement

Chittagong: The doctors have stopped the service at the private hospital-diagnostic center in Chittagong demanding punishment for those involved in the beating of doctors. Patients who come for treatment or various tests have suffered due to this.

On Tuesday (April 23) all services are closed from 6 am. Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chittagong branch announced this program on April 18.

Meanwhile, private sector medical services in Chittagong have come to a standstill due to the closure of medical services.

It can be seen from the surface, the doctors are not providing any medical services to the city’s hospitals-diagnostic centers. Apart from this, they are not able to do any kind of test in the diagnostic centers. As a result, patients have to go back without taking the service after a long wait.

A patient named Didarul Alam, who came for treatment from Cox’s Bazar with kidney problem, told Banglanews that he underwent an examination yesterday (Monday) after being seen by the doctor. But today I heard that the test is closed. If I could get tested today, I could go to Cox’s Bazar. But now I have to stay in Chittagong one day.

Epic Health Care Manager (Medical Services) Dr. Hamid Hossain Azad told BanglaNews that we have stopped our services in solidarity with the program of BMA. Our service will resume when the program ends.

Managing Director of the National Hospital Dr. Mohammad Yusuf told Banglanews that the patients who are admitted in our hospital are being given medical care. But no new patients are being admitted or any tests are being done. Besides, the private practice of doctors is also closed.

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chittagong branch president Dr. Mujibul Haque Khan told BanglaNews, I have announced my program in the case of beating our colleague. Our program will continue till Wednesday (April 24) morning. However, emergency medical services will not be covered under this program.

Incidentally, on April 10, Dr. Patia was accused of delaying the treatment of a patient injured in a motorcycle accident. Raktim Das is beaten. In this incident, on the night of April 11, the executive director of the hospital, SH Khademi, filed a case with the Patia police station as a plaintiff. Upazila Awami League vice-president Mohammad Syed named 5 people in the case and 10-12 people were named as unknown accused.

Besides, on April 14, a doctor named Riaz Uddin Shiblu was beaten up by the patient’s relatives after the death of a child while undergoing treatment at the city’s private hospital medical center. Yasin Arafat, the manager of the hospital, filed a case at the police station as a plaintiff in this incident. The case names one person and names 7-8 others as accused.
