Those who are choosing
Although Anwar Hossain and Nuruzzaman Lashkar have withdrawn their nomination papers for the post of chairman, former vice president of Upazila Jubodal Hanif Ahmed and general secretary of district Zia Parishad Shamima Akhtar are candidates for the post of vice chairman in Sarail upazila. Both have declared for election.
Hanif Ahmed said in the press conference, ‘I am not in any party position now. So I will be elected as an independent candidate. I am getting quite a response in the election campaign.’
And Shamima Akhtar said yesterday, ‘Comilla’s divisional leaders called me and asked me to withdraw from the election. I told them, I will continue the election. Earlier I had lost two elections by narrow margins. I will win this time.’
It has been revealed that among those who are contesting the elections are Shamsur Rashid, former vice-president of BNP in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh, Emran Hassan, former general secretary of Phulpur municipality, Abdul Hamid, member of Mymensingh North district in Haluaghat, Mohammad Faizul Kabir Talukdar, former general secretary of Indurkani upazila of Pirojpur, Faridpur. Former President of Sadar Rauf Un Nabi and former leader of Jubo Dal KM Nazmul Islam, President of Shalla Upazila of Sunamganj Nagendra Chandra Sarkar, Organizational Secretary of Mahadevpur Upazila of Naogaon Sajjad Hossain, Former General Secretary of District Jubo Dal in Rajshahi Sajedur Rahman Khan, Former Joint Convenor of Jhenaigati of Sherpur Md. Aminul Islam, organizing secretary of Kishoreganj district. Nazmul Alam, convener of Meghna Upazila of Comilla Ramiz Uddin, former president of Nangalkot Upazila Chhatra Dal, former leader of Gomstapur of Chapainawabganj Ashraf Hossain and convener of Bholahat Babar Ali Biswas, former vice president of Vishwanath of Sylhet Mohammad Suhail Ahmad Chowdhury, former general secretary Gauch Khan, joint organizing secretary of UK BNP.
