Illegal shop at metro station gate,

--

Dhaka: Although Metrorail has brought relief to Dhaka’s public life, management errors have been coming up from time to time. Metro rail breakdowns delay passenger movement, ticket vending machines also break down at times.

This time, illegal shops have been set up by occupying the sidewalks in front of the metro stations. Due to which passengers are suffering through stairs.

This image was seen on Monday (April 22) at Metrorail station number 11, Shahbagh, Secretariat, Motijheel, Karwan Bazar, Mirpur.

It can be seen that more than 20 mobile shops were seen on the footpaths facing the stairs on both sides of Shahbagh Station road. As a result, the passengers were seen to suffer in getting on and off the metro rail.

Although several policemen are on duty at the police box at Shahbagh intersection, no one is paying attention to the illegal shops.

The same picture was seen at Bangladesh Secretariat, Motijheel, Karwan Bazar and Mirpur station number 11. It is seen in the stairwells of these stations, there are five to seven shops in front of each stairwell. Regarding the inconvenience, Sheikh Taufiq, a regular commuter of the metro rail, said that it is difficult to get on and off the train as there are numerous mobile shops on the stairs of the Shahbagh metro rail. The authorities should look into this.

Ashiq Kundu, a resident of Mirpur, said that on the way down from Mirpur station number 10, the footpath is dirty on one side, and there are many shops on the other side, so there are many problems in the movement of passengers. It is necessary to pay attention to this.

In this regard, the MRT police authorities in charge of the security of the metro station area say that due to manpower shortage, they are not able to monitor the security outside the metro rail.

According to the agency, only 508 members are responsible for the security of 20 metro stations. Because of this, there is no opportunity to assign more than 10 MRT policemen to each station.

In this regard, MRT police inspector Sohel Chowdhury said that our police manpower is less. We are mainly looking at internal security. If the Metrorail authorities conduct any operation, we will be with them in the operation.

ASP Mahmud Khan, who is in charge of MRT police spokesperson, told Banglanews that due to manpower shortage, I am unable to do ground work outside of internal security. Still we are cooperating if DMTCL Magistrate and DMP conduct raids.

The official admitted that the number of illegal shops at the entrance of the station has increased recently He also said that the operation will be strengthened.

MRT Police SP Shafiqul Islam says that DMTCL, DMP and MRT Police all have the responsibility to evict illegal shops.

General Manager (Operation) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Mohammad Iftikhar Hossain was called to inquire about this on mobile phone. But he disconnected the phone call without answering the question.
