The reasoning behind the price hike recommendation is that the production cost of water has increased. Apart from this, water supply projects have been implemented with loan money and repayment of loan installments is starting. It should be noted that chemicals used in water purification, electricity bills, salaries and allowances of manpower are related to production costs. Although the organization is desperate to give incentives to the officers and employees beyond the regular salary.

40 percent areas of Chittagong city are crying for WASA water. There is no water connection anywhere. No connection anywhere else. Moreover, due to the salinity of the water, consumers in many areas are in dire straits. WASA is not even walking the path of any solution for this. There can be no justification for increasing the price of water in such a crisis.

Although there is a huge demand for water, it is sad that at least 912 crore liters of water is being wasted every year due to leaking water supply pipes in Wasa. The market value of wasted water is around Tk 25 crore. Again, an average cost of more than one crore rupees is spent annually to fix this leak. There are complaints that some water is sold from here in the name of waste. Again, in the name of leak repair, an additional bill can be charged. Some money goes into the pocket of the executives. Consumers are directly affected by this wastage of water. Even if this amount of water can be saved, there is no need to increase the price of water.
