Dhaka: The heat wave is likely to spread over most of the country’s districts. The intensity may also increase.

The Meteorological Office has given such a forecast on Monday (April 22).

Meteorologist Md. Omar Farooq said that the low pressure area is located in West Bengal and adjoining areas.

On Tuesday (April 23) a couple of places in Sylhet division may receive temporary gusty/gusty winds with rain/thundershowers. Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Meanwhile, intense heat waves are flowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts. A mild to moderate heatwave is moving over the remainder of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions including Mymensingh, Moulvibazar and Rangamati districts and Dhaka, Rangpur and Barisal divisions and may spread. Day temperatures may increase slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Again, the discomfort will increase due to the excess of water vapor.

On Wednesday (April 24) a couple of places in Sylhet division may receive temporary gusty/gusty winds with rain/thundershowers. Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. The prevailing heat wave may continue. Day temperatures may increase slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.

Thursday (April 25) will be mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. The prevailing heat wave may continue. Day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort. Rainfall may increase over northeastern parts of the country towards the end of the extended five-day spell.

The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 40.6 degrees Celsius in Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga on Monday. The temperature of Dhaka was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius. Maximum rainfall was 50 mm in Sylhet.
