After the formation of the Awami League government for the fourth consecutive term, the Vice Minister of the International Office of the Communist Party of China visited Dhaka as the first foreign guest. Three months after his visit, two large delegations from China are coming to Bangladesh. A group of them are coming to discuss the water issue. Another group is coming with a political message.

The sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Water Resources have revealed this information. An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that two Chinese delegations will visit Bangladesh at the same time. Among them, a delegation from China’s Ministry of Water Resources will visit Bangladesh on April 22-26. On the other hand, another delegation led by the Vice Chairman of Anhui Province of the Communist Party of China will visit Dhaka on April 23-24.

The nine-member delegation from China’s Ministry of Water Resources will be led by Wu Wenjing, chief planner of the country’s Ministry of Water Resources. The delegation will arrive in Dhaka on Monday (April 22). The main meeting of the delegation will be with Nazmul Ahsan, secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources of Bangladesh.

When asked what issues could be discussed in the meeting, the responsible official of the Ministry of Water Resources said that during the visit of the Chinese delegation, flood forecasting will be discussed in the bilateral talks. They will visit the warning center. Besides, the delegation will visit the hydrological station, flood control and irrigation projects.

The official said that the Chinese delegation has expressed interest in inspecting the upper and lower boundaries of the Padma River at the field level.

According to diplomatic sources, a delegation of Bangladesh will visit the country after the visit of the representative of the Ministry of Water Resources of China. Officials from ERD, Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Water Resources will be on the visit.

On the other hand, a six-member delegation led by Anhui Province Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of China Wei Xiaoming will visit Dhaka on April 23-24.

Regarding the visit of this delegation, a diplomat from Dhaka said that the Vice Chairman of Anhui Province of the Communist Party of China is coming to Dhaka with a political message. He may highlight the issue of increasing the political relations of Bangladesh with the Communist Party of China. Until now, the Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament with the Chinese delegation. The decision of Shamsul Haque Tuku’s meeting has been finalized.

Meanwhile, Beijing has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit China in July this year. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation. It is expected that Bangabandhu will visit Beijing on a bilateral visit after her visit to India. China has already started various activities to take the Prime Minister to Beijing.

A responsible diplomat in Dhaka said that the Prime Minister has a proposal for a visit to China. The Prime Minister is expected to visit China this year. Usually there are a lot of formalities, a lot of preparations have to be done to visit the top level. Prior to the summit visit, bilateral visits are exchanged, bilateral issues are to be explored; Then, if both parties agree on a matter, the final decision has to be taken. The visit of the Chinese delegation is also expected to have some such activities.

On January 11, the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina came to power for the fourth time in a row. After 12 days of the formation of the new government in Bangladesh, the Vice Minister of the International Office of the Communist Party of China, Sun Haya, visited Dhaka. This was the first high-level visit by China since the current government came to power for a fourth term.
