The Meteorological Office has predicted that the maximum temperature of the country will drop slightly for the second consecutive day amid the ongoing heat wave.

The country’s highest temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga on Monday. The maximum temperature in the capital rose to 37.8 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Omar Farooq said, “The temperature is slightly lower than the previous day. However, mild to severe heat waves continue. There are warnings that this heatwave may continue for three more days.”

This season’s highest temperature was recorded on Saturday; That day, the thermometer in Jessore rose to 42.6 degrees Celsius. And the maximum temperature in Dhaka was 40.4 degrees Celsius.

Although the temperature dropped a little on Sunday, the spread of heat wave increased in 51 districts. On Sunday, Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature in the country at 42.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Dhaka was 38.2 degrees Celsius.

Although the maximum temperature dropped a little more on Monday, intense heat waves are flowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Chuadanga, Kristia districts.

And mild to moderate heat waves are blowing over Mymensingh, Moulvibazar and Rangamati districts along with the rest of Rajshahi, Khulna divisions and Dhaka, Rangpur and Barisal divisions.

A mild heat wave is considered when the air temperature is below 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. Temperatures less than 38 to 40 degrees Celsius are called moderate and temperatures less than 40 to 42 degrees Celsius are called severe heat waves. And when the temperature rises above 42 degrees, it is called extreme heat wave.

Meteorologist Omar Farooq said, “The existing heat wave may spread further. Day temperature may increase slightly across the country. Uncomfortable heat prevails due to excess water vapor in the air.”

According to the weather forecast, the day temperature may rise slightly across the country for the next two days. The night temperature may remain almost unchanged.

In the next 24 hours, temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a couple of places in Sylhet division. Along with this, there is also a glimpse of scattered hail at some places.

50 mm rainfall was recorded in Sylhet on Sunday night. Rainfall is expected to increase over the northeastern part of the country by the end of the week.
