The 115th edition of the traditional Abdul Jabbar Balikhela of Chittagong will be held next Thursday. CMP Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy will inaugurate the competition. Goods are coming in truck after truck from remote areas. The shops at the fair sell earthenware, toys, vases and dolls, cane and bamboo furniture, hand fans, fishing poles, twigs, pots, saplings, ornaments, cool mats, knives, brooms, etc. A variety of household items will be available. In 1909, Abdul Jabbar of Buxirhat area organized this ball game at Laldighi ground in Saudagar city to organize the youth in the anti-British movement. Which is known as Jabbar Ballikhela in the circle of time. Every year on the 12th of Baisakh, this ball game is held at Laldighi ground. A large number of Bali from different upazilas of Chittagong Division including Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali, Comilla, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, Chakaria, Ukhia, Teknaf participated in it. A large number of spectators come to watch the physical exercise of these victims.
